Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese Islands. It is the central administrative municipality of the 12 islands including Symi, Herke, Ileki and Meis.
The Colossus of Rhodes is accepted as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It was built by the Dors in 208 BC and it was situated at the entrance of the Mandraki Harbour.
The Castle of Rhodes built by the Templer Knights and streets from the medieval period are all registered with UNESCO as a world heritage site.
The sea coast extends approximately 220 km on Rhodes Island.
The town of Rhodes is located on the north tip of the island.
